Spring Testing Dates
Spring testing begins this month
Posted on 05/01/2018
Dear Central Kitsap Middle School Parents/Guardians:

This spring, your child will take the Smarter Balanced tests in math and English language arts. Students in grade 8 will also take the Washington Comprehensive Assessment of Science (WCAS).

This is the fourth year our state will administer the Smarter Balanced tests and the first year for the WCAS. The results from these tests will give a more accurate picture of whether students are on track to be ready for college or career after high school. Students will take the tests online. Our school is scheduled to take the tests on the following dates:

6-8 Grade English Language Arts:  Tuesday, May 8 and Wednesday, May 9
8th Grade Science:  Friday, May 11 and Monday, May 14
6-8 Grade Math:  Tuesday, May 15 and Wednesday, May 16

We appreciate your support in encouraging students to do their best on the state test. It is important for all students to be well fed and rested during state testing. Thus, we would like families to send their child with a small healthy snack or purchase one from Food Service before school on each day of testing. Students will eat their snack while taking a break from testing within their testing rooms.

Students are encouraged to bring a set of earbud headphones for testing. If students do not have access to headphones, a set will be provided to them.  Students may also choose to bring and use a mouse for their Chromebook during testing.

Please call Central Kitsap Middle School at 360-662-2300 if you have questions about state testing.

Thank you for continuing to work with us to make sure your child is successful. Please let us know if there is anything we can do to better support your child. We want students to leave us with a solid foundation of skills and a future full of opportunities.

Thank you,

Scott McDaniel
