September is a beautiful time of year when we all get to settle into schedules, classroom expectations/routines and social connections. Students are starting their third FULL week of school experiencing instructional units/lessons, participating in our district’s Fall Benchmark assessments (Reading & Math), and securing lunchtime routines. Things are movin’ and shakin’ here at CKMS because it’s a “Level-Up” year of high standards, high expectations and high accountability.
Regarding academics, our teachers are working to align their instructional format to ensure each class period is structured into three (3) parts:
- Excellent Entry → an inclusive welcome or routine
- Leaders Learning → engaging strategies
- Community Closure → intentional & optimistic ‘bridge’ to next steps & future learning
This alignment allows adults to promote belonging, connections and cohesion across all content areas, grade-levels and developmental abilities. It is just one of many ways we are reducing barriers to learning at a Tier 1 (school-wide) level.
Our CUB Team is grateful for the ongoing support we’ve received from YOU. As one of your child’s first teachers in life, your partnership is essential in supporting students as they learn more about themselves, their peers and their school culture. These are the building blocks of creating strong communities with kind, responsible and productive citizens!
